I have been enthralled with technology and its boundless possibilities for as long as I can remember. Making technology available to non technical people is a huge passion of mine. As I come from a family of business people, it was almost a foregone conclusion that I would mix business with technology. I started my first company at 22 and since then have started or run companies in many different industries until my vision and passion for Vuid came to fruition. I started Reddog Technology with Jason Rudolph in 2005, which quickly grew to become a national and then an international organization. I was listed in the Smart Company Hot 30 in 2009 which was coincidently the year Jason and I started developing what would become Vuid.
Since my teenage years I have always been passionate about new ideas and things that change the way we live. After obtaining an undergraduate degree (and later a postgraduate Masters) and working for a large corporate company I decided the time had come to act on my passion. I co-founded Reddog Technology with Nathan Aherne in 2005 to fulfil this passion and utilize my skills and experience in technology and business. It was blatantly obvious to us when it came to IT requirements very few business systems existed to best implement technology efficiently in an organization. Since 2005 we have created and delivered high quality business systems to both private and public companies using technology as the key driver.
I have worked in the IT industry for over 10 years and have experience working on many high profile and complex projects that have won Webby and BAFTA awards. Prior to joining Vuid, I co-founded Symphony CMS, an open source content management system and winner of the McFarlane Prize presented by Web Directions. Symphony CMS is used by many high profile organizations around the world. For my achievements in the open source industry, I received the 2011 Neo Star Award during my three year residence in Taiwan.
I love games designing and enjoy speedcubing and my best time to date is 38 seconds.
I have worked in the web industry for 5 years within agencies and large corporations. I have worked with clients around the world including BBC Worldwide, Virgin Australia, News Deeply and the Queensland Government to craft engaging experiences for their users. I managed the development and community of Symphony CMS, a global open source project for a number of years and have a passion for mobile experiences.
I love craft beer, travelling and am currently learning German.
Front-End / Designer
I have been working with startups and the web space for 5 years. Web startups are a huge passion of mine, my previous startup before joining Vuid was Documaps.io, an online tool that aids in providing essential briefing documents for web designers to give to their clients.
In my spare time, I like to write music, play guitar and sing.
Over the past 12 years I have built a career from my passion for technology, the web and making stuff. Before joining the Vuid team, I co-founded the Symphony CMS open source project. This has given me the opportunity to work on high profile projects for BBC, Virgin, MTV and other international brands. If I'm not building digital things, then I am most likely designing boardgames, playing them, or planning my next CNC build.
I have been working as a Systems Administrator/Software Engineer for the past 17 years, using both Windows and Unix (Linux/BSD) systems. During this time I have worked with everything from the standard web and email servers to high performance computing systems simulating fire and smoke spread, as well as written project management software, GPS asset tracking software, and customised accounting packages. I pride myself on writing secure systems which are robust and rarely need intervention. Unix and networking are both passions of mine and I love to work on and test out bleeding edge technologies.
